Houston Obedience Training is also known as “Basic Training” and it’s the building blocks for every well-mannered dog. A well-mannered Houston Obedience Training dog knows how to do the following things, whenever they are told, no exceptions:

Here is a list of Houston Obedience Training Commands

Houston Obedience Training

We require you to come and learn how to handle your dog during the Houston Obedience Training pickup training sessions to ensure the training is long lasting and effective so that owners and their children understand what to do when taking your dog home.

We get calls all the time from people who say their dog had “failed” from other Houston Obedience Training schools. The problem is usually not the dog, but what the other Houston Obedience Training school failed to do is successfully teach the owner.  This is a shame and a real waste of money.  Houston Obedience Training understands that telling someone to “do this,” is not good enough. You need to understand why you are doing something as well as have hands on practice under Houston Obedience Training experts watchful eyes.  We understand it takes some people longer than others to understand what is being taught.  Here at Houston Obedience Training we will work with you and your dog until you have mastered the obedience skills, and we encourage you to come back for two follow up sessions with Houston Obedience Training.

Martin and Shelly Bell of Houston Obedience Training are dedicated, professional dog trainers and we know that not every method is right for every dog and owner. Houston Obedience Training is flexible and use a variety of techniques and strategies. You will never hit or yell at your dog. All “attention getting” techniques are done at very low levels of positive reinforcement, minimal correction with lots of praise and love which will be used to reinforce positive behavior that will successfully eliminate bad and undesirable behavior.

MANS BEST FRIEND OR DOGS BEST FRIEND?

What relationship do you have with your dog?

Pretty important question if you are browsing our site looking for Houston Obedience Training advice or even a Houston Obedience Training program.  The relationship most people have with their dog coming to our kennel is one of being their dog’s best friend.  The next question would be is there anything wrong with that?

The answer is tricky – it depends on the type of dog you have.  If your pup’s the perfect pooch, needs no Houston Obedience Training at all, loves taking his walks, friendly with everyone he meets, has several canine friends that love to romp and play together and finally after a day spent being your perfect companion falls asleep at your feet.  You are on the wrong website.  Most people don’t have that luxury nor may I even say a ‘fairytale’ storybook of a dog.  I know I’ll get 1000 emails saying that their dogs are angels without wings etc….don’t bother sending them!

Houston Obedience Training is dealing with dogs that are not like that.  The people I deal with everyday are confused, frustrated and sometimes scared.  Raising a dog was not as easy as they though and their perfect bundle of fur at 8 weeks has turned into a Tasmanian devil dog by 5 or 6 months old.  Of course I’m making a point – not everything about them is terrible but a dog that bolts across a road when you lose control in the park and he simply will not listen, that’s scary.  Dogs that tear up the back yard because they have been relegated there for incessant jumping up, isn’t fair, to dog or owner.  I have a list elsewhere on the site but all the problems we encounter are NORMAL behavior for the dogs given the amount of Houston Obedience Training.  The main question being, what do I do about it and how can I make it stick. Call Houston Obedience Training!

The adage I want you to remember is that a dog is Man’s Best Friend.  We have all heard the phrase.  To make your dog your companion you have to be a leader, Houston Obedience Training can help you.  Dogs don’t respond to weakness, they respond to, and respect, strength.  This is where re enforcement of your commands comes into play.  Houston Obedience Training is as easy as remembering the last thing you told your dog to do, and making them do it!  I want you to make a choice between love and respect right now.  Love has no place in Houston Obedience Training a dog.  Dogs confuse kindness for weakness.

Does this mean I need to beat them?

Certainly NOT! Houston Obedience Training is here to help, we have vast experience in training all types of dogs from scared and un-socialized to hardheaded aggressive biters.  Houston Dog Obedience has the skills to help fix your dog problems.  Beating and over correcting any bad behavior will certainly make it worse.  Your dog needs Houston Obedience Training to teach them how to love you back, through mutual respect and an understanding of what pleases you.
